 17 maart 2021: conferentie voor de zone Apeldoorn in Apeldoorn.

Vandaag hadden we zoneconferentie met 16 zendelingen uit twee districten (district Apeldoorn en district Rotterdam).
De assistenten, elders Gerrits en Silva, bespraken een aantal aandachtspunten waaronder kleding verzorgen op vergaderingen (ook online), op tijd inloggen, de Facebook Paas campagne enz.
President Buysse liet in zijn presentatie diep in zijn hart kijken. Hij had het onder meer over de muziek van het evangelie horen, de Heilige Geest tot gids nemen, het evangelie altijd prediken en daarbij woorden gebruiken als het nodig is, en over rein blijven.
Zuster Buysse besprak de verzoening van Jezus Christus en hoe Hij ons daardoor volledig kan begrijpen. We bespraken wat de bittere beker inhield en het gebed van de Heiland in Getsemane. We stonden even stil bij de symbolen van het avondmaal en we werden allemaal stil van het feit dat Jezus Christus de rots is die zo oneindig groot is, dat niemand er kan afvallen. De hulp van Jezus is zo breed en diep als de eeuwigheid.
Na het rollenspel waarbij de facebook campagne werd ingeoefend, was het tijd voor de getuigenissen van de vertrekkende zendelingen: elders Keate, Zimmerman, Bradshaw, Nielsen en Bartlett. Het was fijn om te horen hoe ieder op zending gegroeid was in zijn getuigenis.
Daarna was er een uitleg over het nieuwe autorijden-systeem voor de zendelingen. Dat werd gevolgd door de zone accountibiltity. 
President Spencer Hulleman was de volgende spreker. Hij had het over hoe de grootste dingen van je leven bepaald worden door de kleinste: je gedachten; over hoe we moeten leren een combinatie te maken tussen wat je voelt in je hart en in je verstand; en over goede intenties gekoppeld aan acties.
Elder Gerrits en elder Silva bespraken als slot hoe we ons getuigenis kunnen versterken door verlangen, ervaringen en dienen.
President Buysse sloot deze mooie conferentie af met een terugblik op wat gezegd was.
Een woord van dank voor de zusters uit de wijk Apeldoorn die een lekkere lunch hadden klaargemaakt en voor de zendelingen die prachtig muzikale nummers gebracht hebben. 

Today we had zone conference with 16 missionaries from two districts (Apeldoorn district and Rotterdam district).
The assistants, elders Gerrits and Silva, discussed a number of bullet points, including appropriate clothing for meetings (also online), logging in on time, the Facebook Easter campaign, etc.
President Buysse took us  deep into his heart in his presentation. Among other things, he talked about hearing the music of the gospel, taking the Holy Ghost as your guide, always preaching the gospel using words when needed, and staying clean.
Sister Buysse discussed the Atonement of Jesus Christ and how it let Him fully understand us. We discussed what the bitter cup was and the Savior's prayer in Gethsemane. We paused for a moment at the symbols of the sacrament, and we all became silent about the fact that Jesus Christ is the rock so infinitely great that no one can fall off. The help of Jesus is as broad and deep as eternity.
After the role play in which the Facebook campaign was practiced, it was time for the testimonies of the departing missionaries: elders Keate, Zimmerman, Bradshaw, Nielsen and Bartlett. It was nice to hear how each one had grown in his testimony.
Then there was an explanation of the new driving system for the missionaries. That was followed by the accountability zone.
President Spencer Hulleman was the next speaker. He talked about how the greatest things in your life are determined by the smallest: your thoughts; about how we should learn to combine what you feel in your heart and in your mind; and about good intentions linked to actions.
Elder Gerrits and elder Silva concluded by discussing how we can strengthen our testimonies through desire, experiences, and service.
President Buysse closed this beautiful conference with a review of what had been said.
A word of thanks to the sisters from  the Apeldoorn ward who had prepared a delicious lunch and to the missionaries who brought beautiful musical numbers.

 24 februari 2021: elder en zuster Roundy vertrekken naar huis.

Vandaag namen we afscheid van een geweldig senior zendingskoppel: elder en zuster Roundy. In maart moesten ze naar huis door het Coronavirus, maar ze kwamen terug! We zijn hen heel dankbaar voor het vele werk dat ze in de unit Leeuwarden gedaan hebben en we wensen hen nog veel geluk en blijdschap in alles wat ze doen. Niet alleen het noorden van Nederland zal hen missen, wij ook.

Today we said goodbye to a wonderful senior missionary couple — elder and sister Roundy. They had to go home in March because of the Corona virus, but they came back! We are very grateful to them for the amazing work they have done in the Leeuwarden unit and we wish them the best of luck and joy in everything they do. Not only the north of the Netherlands will miss them, we will too.

19 februari 2021: MLC in Gouda.

Vandaag hadden we vergadering voor de leiders en leidsters van deze zending in het kantoor te Gouda:
zes zoneleiders en twee zuster-training-leidsters, de assistenten en president en zuster Buysse. 
Nadat de assistenten enkele aandachtspunten gepresenteerd hadden, gaf elder Curtis een uitleg over hoe de appartementen van de zendelingen er moeten uitzien als ze voor een tijdje gesloten zullen zijn.
Elder Silva besprak daarna het belang van het gebruiken van het Boek van Mormon.
Vervolgens gaf president Buysse een uitleg over de komende Facebook campagnes en hoe we God in ons zendingswerk zouden moeten laten zegevieren.
Na de zone-accountibility gaven zuster Arts en zuster Goodall hun getuigenis. Voor zuster Arts was dit haar laatste MLC en voor zuster Goodall haar eerste.
Elder Gerrits liet een fragment zien uit de film 'Ephraïms rescue' en besprak daarna hoe we met toezeggingen moeten omgaan. Onze taak is uitnodigen, niet overtuigen.
Zuster Buysse liet in de schriften ontdekken hoe belangrijk het is om onze focus op de Heer te houden. Dan zullen we het heilige ontdekken in ons normale leven. Om het begrip toewijding te verduidelijken keken we naar de film 'John Moyle, the stone cutter.'
President Buysse sloot de vergadering met de apostolische belofte van elder Holland in 'Op de Here wachten'.
Zuster Curtis had een heerlijke lunch klaargemaakt en we hebben ook kunnen genieten van enkele mooie muzikale nummers.

Today we had a meeting for the leaders of this mission in the office in Gouda:
six zone leaders and two sister training leaders, the assistants and president and Sister Buysse.
After the assistants presented some bullet points, elder Curtis explained what the missionaries' apartments should look like when they are closed for a while.
Elder Silva then discussed the importance of using the Book of Mormon in mission work.
President Buysse then explained the upcoming Facebook campaigns and how we should let God prevail in our missionary efforts.
After the zone accountibility, sister Arts and sister Goodall shared their testimonies. This was the last MLC for sister Arts and the first for sister Goodall.
Elder Gerrits showed an excerpt from the movie 'Ephraim's rescue' and then discussed how we should deal with commitments. Our task is to invite, not to convince.
Sister Buysse showed in the scriptures how important it is to keep our focus on the Lord. Then we will discover the sacred in our normal life. To clarify the concept of commitment, we watched the movie "John Moyle, the stone cutter."
President Buysse closed the meeting with the apostolic promise of Elder Holland in "Waiting for the Lord."
Sister Curtis had prepared a delicious lunch and we also enjoyed some beautiful musical numbers.

 18 februari 2021: Twee nieuwe zendelingen!

Deze morgen zijn elder Suckow en zuster Greenhalgh na een intercontinentale vlucht veilig geland op Schiphol (Amsterdam).
Beide zendelingen hadden ook een Duits paspoort waardoor ze hier konden komen.
Elder Suckow zal dienen in Lelystad, Nederland en elder Kempenaers zal hem opleiden.
Het eerste gebied van zuster Greenhalgh is Sint-Niklaas, België en zuster Condron zal haar opleiden. Door de verstrengde maatregelen aan de grens volgde zuster Condron de vergadering online.

We wensen hen veel vreugde en succes in de België-Nederland zending!

Elder Suckow and Sister Greenhalgh landed safely at Schiphol (Amsterdam) this morning after an intercontinental flight.
Both missionaries also had German passports that allowed them to come here.
Elder Suckow will serve in Lelystad, the Netherlands and elder Kempenaers will train him.
Sister Greenhalgh's first area is Sint-Niklaas, Belgium and Sister Condron will train her. Due to the strict rules about crossing the borders, sister Condron followed the meeting online.

We wish them much joy and success in the Belgium-Netherlands mission!
